Our Vision

The vision of the Alliance is to provide a platform to empower the various service providers in Calgary to work together for the betterment of our diverse ethnic communities. It envisions an inclusive and supportive society, regardless of individual political and religious beliefs, where Calgarians of all ethnic origins have full and equitable access to all aspects of Canadian society. It is intended to be a visible hub, easily accessed by all members of our communities.

A Culture of Respect: Taking Care of Our Seniors

The Alliance of Calgary Community Ethnic Support Society (ACCESS) nurtures those who gave it all for us. Specifically, it stands by its seniors, delivering them food, sending volunteers to check in on their mental well-being, and, in times of urgency, providing them with basic necessities. For example, during COVID-19, ACCESS provided Calgary’s seniors with over 2,000 kilograms of rice. Additionally, it provided face masks and, to warn them of the surrounding dangers, it created a web series both to entertain and educate.

Outside of emergencies, ACCESS still maintains its mission of providing for those who raised us. Not only does it run active food banks that provide bread and water, and an accessible newspaper series of its own with large Chinese characters, accommodating those who may have language barriers or vision problems, but it also goes to great lengths to organize day trips, enabling them to explore and enjoy Alberta’s serene environment.
